Sodium Bicarbonate isn't chametz?

Jason writes...

I have a question regarding what is and is not chametz. According to most sources that I have read, chametz is leaven, not just yeast. During the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread, we are not to have any chametz in our homes or eat it or even own it. Sodium Bicarbonate (aka - Baking Soda) is a leavening agent and, therefore, we should not eat or own it.

So here's my confusion: Manischewitz Matzo Ball Mix has sodium bicarbonate in it and yet it claims to be Kosher for Passover.

How is this possible?

Todah v'Shalom,

Jason

Wright Raises Questions About Obama That Must Be Answered In The Interest Of National Security by Bill Wilson

From Bill Wilson at the Daily Jot on April 30, 2008

Greetings.

Politics and religion once again has taken center stage in the ongoing presidential race of B. Hussein Obama. Obama, who has been dogged by the Bible-twisting, anti-white, anti-Jew, anti-American proclamations of his pastor Jeremiah Wright, had to publicly disavow Wright. Obama said that Wright wasn't the man he met 20 years ago and that his comments "offend me, they rightly offend all Americans, and they should be denounced." Strange that Obama is just now understanding that Wright's rantings are offensive. But Obama' cannot disavow in one day his close association with Wright and Wright's consistent message of two decades.

Where are the three First Fruits in Torah?

Ben writes:

Shalom Rabbi,

I know of the feast of first fruits, and that all things that first belong to G-d, I have heard that their are three times of the year that first fruits are given? Is this correct? Where in Torah is this found?

In Messiah- Thank you

Amazon Top 50 Reviewer 'Joburgpete' gives his thoughts about "Yeshua: The Lion of Judah" by Rabbi Isaac Levy

Recently we came across a strong and in-depth review of Rabbi Isaac's book posted on Amazon.com- we thought it would be worth sharing here as the writer is a "Top 50 Reviewer" on Amazon.com. Have a read of his comments and see if you aren't motivated to get yourself a copy of "Yeshua: The Lion of Judah".

Amazon reviewer, Joburgpete writes the following in his review of Rabbi Isaac's book, "Yeshua: The Lion of Judah":

In this gripping book, the author sets out to clarify mankind's relationship with God and attempts to clear up certain age-old doctrinal issues of contention since, as he correctly observes, the Hebrew Scriptures have been manipulated by the churches. At the same time, he admits that the Bible can be confusing. The stated aim of the book is to provide order, sanity and common sense to the reader. He is very emphatic about using the Hebrew name of our Redeemer.

American Leadership Bringing Prophetic Judgment of Islam Upon The Country

From Bill Wilson at the Daily Jot on April 25, 2008

Greetings in the Name of Him Who is Revelation!

The Bush Administration may be sealing the prophetic fate of an America whose leaders are breaking the nation's covenant with God by mixing with and submitting to Islam, the antithesis of the Judeo-Christian faith. Just this week, the Bush Administration took steps to provide nuclear fuel and technology to Islamic states and to cave in to Islamic demands to put a government-wide ban on descriptive war on terror terms such as "Jihadist", "mujahedeen", and "Islamo-fascism." These moves coincide with the Treasury Department's actions in March to create special investment deals with Islamic sovereign wealth funds that may attempt to impose Sharia law over U.S. investment companies.

81 Percent Say Nation On Wrong Track--Are Christians To Blame?

From Bill Wilson at the Daily Jot on April 4, 2008

Greetings in the Name of Him Who Is Truth!

A New York Times/CBS News poll indicates that 81% of Americans believe the nation has "pretty seriously gotten off on the wrong track." In the poll, Americans blamed several things for their dim view of the country--the federal government, the weakening economy, terrorism, and the mortgage crisis. A full 70%, however, said that their personal financial situation was "fairly good" or "very good". What analysts are unlikely to figure out from such a poll is that Americans sense in their spirits that the nation is in dire circumstance, but so long as their pockets have enough money, that nagging feeling about the nation going in the wrong direction will never be addressed.

Islamic Plan Revealed: Use Native American Legal Precedents To Establish Sharia Law in the U.S.

From Bill Wilson at the Daily Jot on March 3, 2008

Greetings in the Name of Him Who is Revelation!

Subversive Islamic interests in the United States intend to use the legal precedence of Native American Indian courts to establish Sharia law courts where Islamists will handle their own civic matters on such issues as crime, marriage, divorce, support, custody, adoption, legitimacy, abuse, and more. A 1993 article posted in February by The American Muslim entitled “Native American Courts: Precedent for an Islamic arbitral system,” reminds Muslim legal organizations to explore using legal precedents found in the 1978 Indian Child Welfare Act and Article I Section 8 in the U.S. Constitution, giving Congress regulatory authority over Indian tribes, to seek to establish Sharia law courts in the U.S.

Establishing Sharia Law courts in the U.S. is one of the goals of the 1991 Muslim Brotherhood plan to wage a “Civilization Jihad” aimed at overthrowing the U.S. government and establishing Islamic rule.  The plan, submitted as evidence in the Holy Land Foundation terrorist funding trial in Dallas, Texas, calls for the establishment of “comprehensive settlement organizations.”  These organizations are to take root in American society and establish an Islamic foundation that would be followed by generations of Muslims in the U.S. to “finish the march”.  The Muslim Brotherhood plan called for establishing “A Central Islamic Court,” a “Muslims Attorneys Society” and organizations to defend rights of Muslims.

A Brief for Whitely by Patrick J. Buchanan

By Patrick J. Buchanan

How would he pull it off? I wondered.

How would Barack explain to his press groupies why he sat silent in a pew for 20 years as the Rev. Jeremiah Wright delivered racist rants against white America for our maligning of Fidel and Gadhafi, and inventing AIDS to infect and kill black people?

How would he justify not walking out as Wright spewed his venom about "the U.S. Of K.K.K. America," and howled, "God d*** America!" My hunch was right. Barack would turn the tables.

Doctors Interrogate Children as Informants on Parents' Behavior by David Gutierrez

Encouraged by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), pediatricians across the United States have begun questioning children about their parents' habits, in some cases even filing police reports based on this information, according to an opinion article published in the Boston Herald.

Article author Michael Graham recounts that his own children were asked by their doctor whether their parents used drugs and alcohol, owned guns, or were abusive. The doctor did not seek parental permission before asking the questions, nor did he inform them that they were being asked; Graham and his wife found out only after their children came home from the visits.
